I was doing a building conversion job locally (Preston area) in what had been a Victorian era, village Police Station. We discovered a metal plate in one of the walls, removing it we found one of the original barred windows of a cell. The owner wanted it opened up, I pointed out that we had just finished the room on the other side, including repainting. No matter just do it was the answer. It now looks very good and is a talking point for visitors. The room had at some later point been a bakery, so the log burner is in the oven. The doors to the room are the old cell doors, about 4 inches thick solid wood, it was a very interesting job.
