Been watching this on Ebay IMO it looks like a real bad copy
it's lines are too crisp and looks unused
in fact it's the most unconvincing lamp ever ?
and the name tag ?

Not convinced its meant to be a copy of anything. Just looks like an el cheepo decorative lamp?

OK, then please explain to me why in all the years I have carried a safety lamp, they have never had 'Sir Humphry Davey' stamped on them?
Mine have always had 'GR6S' and a number stamped on them.

Maybe I didn't work in the same pit as him..........

It's not a copy it is a modern "tourist" item,if it had been a copy they would have put a wick adjuster.
It will have a collectable value? just not my cup of tea? :confused:

Love it vanoord :lol:
It is described as "used" it doesn't look as if its ever been underground!
The tag says "Sir Humphrey Davy 1778 182?", all the ones I have seen have a serial number on the tag.
As has already been stated, no wick adjuster is visible.
It looks like a LED inside!
All the same, a nice decorative conversation piece and probably worth the £36.58 it went for, although I wouldn't have bought it for that.

When the lamp the OP was asking about arrives thro' the post, someone could be disappointed, AFAIK they are only about 4" tall.
An ebay lamp that is worth a look though (no 150831608380) listed as a "Fine Clanny", well, it's a fine lamp, but it's no Clanny. It's a much rarer "Ayton's patent" double glass lamp with the Ayton shield still inside the gauze. Nice to see in this complete condition, & even with it's broken glasses could fetch a good price. If my cash wasn't tied up with boatbuilding, I'd be going for it ::)
