The town of Remolinos, in the region called Ribera Alta, near Zaragoza (Spain), has always been linked to salt mining . From Roman times to present the exploitation of halite has been continous in a landscape dominated by ravines that have excaved sinuous watercourses with larger meanders where they open the abandoned entrances of the mines.

From armchair mine explorer, fantastic set of photos. Wish I could could find a lorry underground. What a fun drive.
Cutting coal in my spare time.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
