i noticed brousing the mines by region that theres a section on manchester and pointon collierys is there any chance of adding a section on the oldham coalfield in the future as there were over 300 pits that are known about (most were small and unnamed) but we had a lot of big pits some of which survived to nationalisation such as moston/oak/woodpark/chamber/jubilee/bower...the list goes on but i know the positions of a large amount of them though unfortunatly most have no pictures apart from in books and most have been built over now...although some of the early pits reappear from time to time coinsiding with the disapearance of peoples back gardens down the holes,failing that could manchester be expanded to include oldham perhaps.

if its a hole explore it...

Hi Mate, I put that lot on so if you want the Oldham stuff entering I'll do it (do you have a list i can have tho?) I did alot of the Manchester area but was lacking the gen to do Oldham.

Northern Mines did an excellent piblication on the oldham coalfield I have the last few copies available

i have a list of 30 or 40 collieries,their names grid refs and seams worked,interestingly ive just inherited the geological maps of manchester both geology and drift that were used in the compiling of the 1931 book geology of manchester (hm stationary office). ive just had them framed now i need to find a wall big enouth for them,when i get chance next week ill digitise the list if you want to add them. some ive already added.
i have the book on oldham coal its really very good
