I see the Coal Authority has advertised an application for a conditional underground licence to work coal in East Kent:

I reckon those co-ordinates cover approximately 100 square km. I cannot imagine that this will go very far and is probably a speculative application (I vaguely recall that some of the Kent coals were good for coking?) ......... but I am prepared to be suprised!
