Cefn Coch and Foel Ispri (on the New Precipice Walk) are well worth a day out. Cefn Coch is a good example of the low-sulphidation deposits in the Gold belt: Foel Ispri is a typical high-sulphidation example with abundant arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena etc. Good lode textures at Cefn Coch especially on the tips SW of the main lode workings, showing good shear- and book-and-ribbon structures. The chances of finding samples of gold are remote to put it mildly, but both areas have much geological and mineralogical interest, excellent industrial archaeology and fine scenery. Open workings were fenced off by the Crown Estates several years ago - this applies all around the Gold belt.
