Gold Mines of Wales/Stellar Resources have put out stuff like this before, they are not interested in actual mining, merely increasing the value of what they have

I would imagine getting planning permission for an actual mine, together with the necessary, ore treatment plant would be very difficult.
My guess is they will try and do a little drilling to see what is their pach, then wait to find out how the proposed mines in Northern Ireland get on, and also how Scotgold, have progressed at Coninish.

What the RNS says is practically nothing other than what everybody already knows - yes there were gold mines here, yes some gold was produced and yes there is potential for finding hitherto undiscovered veins. No new information whatsoever.

Pretty pointless RNS actually.

Assuming they are doing diamond drilling to extract cores, I wonder how efficient this is for vein deposits? Surely you need to be lucky enough to hit a vein, unless you're just doing it on known veins? Or your drill holes are insanely close together? Unless a preliminary geophysical survey is done first to identify drill zones?

With a disseminated deposit like Parys, I can see the value.

The RNS does not commit them to drilling - its states:

"The success of the new exploration will depend on sound geological knowledge and the application of a detailed systematic exploration programme. SRK ES recommends that this should include stream sediment sampling, geological mapping, soil sampling, hand auger drilling and geophysical surveying, and considers the drilling targets could be provided within a 10 month period as a cost of £350,000 - 400,000. Following this, if the necessary planning and environmental permissions can be secured by GMOW, diamond drilling could be undertaken to support the presence of a potential deposit."

The budget stated would not get them very far down the road to defining and delineating a vein deposit to a qualified resource let alone reserve category.

It is all very speculative and exploration at the very basic levels has not even commenced yet.

Good luck to them but it will need a budget in the tens of millions to get to a mineral reserve statement.

Well if they are heading for Clogau - I was there with Jack Williams many years ago when he showed me the rich pillar under the creek. And told me it was the only place you'd get any grades. Methinks - they are mining shareholders... Gwynfyndd maybe a bit different - there's still plenty Au down there, but processing it - in a stream where they are protecting bloody shrimps from the folk who want to pan for gold?????????

Surely they aren't painting adit walls with powdered gold? Are they ?
