In a lot of instances a person would spoil the photo completely.

Most people on our forums and elswhere too I reckon can fully understand the "scale" of features within the photo they are looking at, to most of us it becomes second nature.

And if you don't believe me take a good look at the excellent book of photographs published here recently "UNDERGROUND REFLECTIONS" There are a total of 36 full colour superb photographs, on only six pages will you see people. I rest my case, you do not always require scale.
