Kate - do you know Nenthead? Go to Nent, and when you see the pub "Miners Arms" on the left, you'll see a road going off on the right. Turn into that, and then immediately left into the carpark area - that's the Nent Mines Heritage Centre. We'll all be in there, although landrovers etc carrying timber and tools will probably use the back way in.

Mike - can I assume you'll be shifting timber sat am, and continuing digging on sun? I'll be able to donate sat to help with timber etc...

Not seen the newer collapse myself, but I take it, its fully blocked now? Not to worry, hopefully it will all get sorted soon.

George Hertherington's cross cut is around 55m of duck walk / hands and knees - rumor has it that he was a dwarf

Don't worry - it's only the last threequarters that really get you. There is also one place about halfway where two poeple can stand - oh what joy - believe me it is! 😉

Cheers Mr Mike. I will be the one in the green Mondeo estate car wearing impossibly bright orange boilersuit, just outta the wrapping and needing to get it muddy 😉

OK, I have spoken with the centre, let say we meet 10:30 on Saturday 19th at Mill Cottage (that is up the track past the Heritage Centre, past the water wheel on your right, by the gate across the road. Theres a swing board outside, saying bunk house....)

There is plenty of timber to hand and tools as well....

Can people who are coming for sure let me know, either on the post or by PM,

Thanks again,

Mr Mike.

Good evening all, I have just got up to date on this, and I will be up at Nenthead from tomorrow until Sunday evening.
So put into your little black books, RF IN.
See you at 10.30 hrs, Mill Cottage, Sat 19th. And what’s more, I will attempt to recruit everyone at High Plains into coming along to help.
I am not sure who will be there, but it’s “Mole” AKA John Hine of the clapped out motorbike/sidecar and possibly some asylum seekers from NAMHO 2008
I will be on line tomorrow early before I start off, so will be able to read replies, but be gentle with me.
On a serious note, its important work that you are doing, and you deserve all the help you can get.
I have not had opportunity to see the collapse, but will it need spiling?
If anyone can lay hands on worn out drill steels, or failing that scaffold poles, I will show you how we did it at Talybont, all 140 feet of it.
Very best regards and looking forward to seeing you all.

I am just setting off from Walsall, 09.30 hrs.
Just a polite reminder. There will need to be some means of moving the spoil, a 5 gallon plastic container with one side cut out, or similar.
I assume that everything is probably in hand, and that all is needed is as many hands as possible to get stuff through the mine, which is what I will attempt to recruit from my mates at High Plains.

NPHT has all the tools and I assume some half barrels - but these can be got if they don't. Excellent that you are joining the mission Roy.

Sparty has just pointed this out to me, see what we all think tomorrow, I feel that the there are some parts that need shoring up irrespective of it being open again, as its just a ticking time bomb on when the next bit is going to come down.
