Can't make it to NH until Sunday. Can supply measurements and arrange for timber to be put outside Mine yard gate if you want to take in on Friday? Could arrange a joint effort on following weekend.

Can we have a fresh start about a date? NPHT will make timber available for free. Any starting suggestions for dates. How about 18th and 19th July?

With a big shale block come down now, it looks like this is blocked now.

NPHT have offered the materials, just getting them in. PeteJ mentioned 18/19th July, certainly I can do 19/20th.

Getting the timber in is a prob due to the distance and with George Heth's to get through...Could we get a load of people to come down and do this?

Imagine, say 20 bods, at various stops all in George Heth's, doing pass the timber, easy work for so many...

Volunteers????

I can get 3 on this, PeteJ makes 4, Sparty 5, 15 more, have there ever been that many down Smallcleugh on one mission?

Mike, I would really to help out and could be available on the Saturday (is that the 19th) however I am probably the least experienced person on this forum having only got into mine exploration recently. I've only been underground a few times but I would love to volunteer if you would like me to.

I don't mind hard work at all and am fit but I would have to just be a labourer as I know nowt about these things. Anyway, let me know what you think, I am more than happy to lift stuff and I am good at being told what to do, just ask the wife 😉

As a passing thought....
In August there will be a large quantity of Darkplace'rs etc up in Smallcleugh during the course of the BigBash.
It may be feasable to tie into that event and get materials carried through when they are on the way to the Ballroom.
Lots of warm, walking bodies and all good lads (and the odd lass) who would more than likely be happy to carry a lump of timers or two whilst passing by.....

Bigloada, thanks, you are welcome to come along, pencil it in.

Jagman, good idea, but hopefully we will get all the bods needed in July, also would feel bad about shanghing their bash with less than interesting underground activities ?

Cheers Mr Mike, I'll be there. Can I just ask, will I need to bring anything apart from the usual hard hat/lamp etc etc?

Will there be a central meeting place at a particular time?

Thanks 🙂

YES!!! Knee pads a must!!!

Sat the 19th July, prob around 10ish, but this is not set in concrete, basically a time to suit all, but not silly late.

Luckily my dad just gave me his old NCB kneepads from Bates colliery. I bet he never thought they would get used again after he retired 😉

if i am not working ill pop up and station myself in the misery to pass stuff through...i been meaning to take a brush and hand shovel to get rid of some of those small pebbles that seem to still get through my knee pads, pity we cant install a small track and bogey in there like the great escape...what a relief that would be.
if its a hole explore it...

Should be OK too for the day.. Has anyone thought about equipment at the coal face as well as timber - buckets, ropes, shovels saws, drills and wedges to split large blocks etc....?
