That's a hell of a spoil heap!!!
The finest workers in stone are not copper or steel tools, but the gentle touches of air and water working at their leisure with a liberal allowance of time.

Thanks to all that attended and helped out. Big one to Roy Fellows for helping out and showing us the ins and outs of timbering!

Did a session on the Sunday as well, got the bulges sorted, just need to put some supports in on the fall as stuff is coming down all the time.

Hopefully another session is all that will be needed.

Agree its still on the move - not a place to be on your own... Roy.... next time you take me out through the horse level with 6" headroom for yard after yard, let me know first!!!! Good fun though, and better than hetheringtons.... That was a great dig - good fun, great team work - sorry I couldnt hear a damn thing, but at least you all managed to take the *** out of me for the duration.. I'll be free next sunday if anyone is around..... mike......roy..... ? PS The Dog says thanks too - she enjoyed digging the post holes for Roy..

It woked out OK for dig, but my phots taken by radio remote control are a mixed bag. East Longcleugh Flats near Barrons Sump of which I had such high hopes are terrible when on a computer screen, will do again.
It did the trick though at Mitchells Flat, and I got a good one in Rampgill/Beaumont section.

Is he trying to get a signal on his mobile? 🙂

Roy that flash device you showed me was genius! I think it worked pretty well judging from those photos. I might have to build one of those myself.

What kind of flash guns do you use by the way?

Dont take any notice of those buggers above, I just ignore them. Heb will be throwing his half penny worth in next I expect.
Flash guns.
I use any old thing I can lay hands on, you dont need dedication etc. And power is not really a consideration using the RCU, you just fire the thing over and over.
The flats were taken on multiple exposures, by the way. But I have to make sure that I am standing somewhere where the light from the following flashes wont make me transparent. Also, find hiding places round corners and from behind pack walls etc to fire the follow up flashes, otherwise there would be several of me in the picture.
I think that one RF is enough in the mining scene, more than one and everyone would pack it in and take up Morris Dancing instead.

What's the situation in Smallcleugh just now, have there been any further developments with clearing/stabilising the fall?
