The site seems to be down at the moment, can any one enlighten us as to what's happening?

Someone has been grinding off the combination locks, so a key lock has had to be put in for the time being until a new combi lock is put on, which means no access 😞

Two locks chopped off in the last week or so
Miles has run out of combination locks, he has ordered more but its on a key lock until the new combination locks arrive.

He really needs to rethink the way its locked! Get rid of the chain and have the padlock into a metal box so it cant be cut off but can still be seen and opened

The original intention was to make it possible for people to break in without causing damage

The hinges were made in a manner that the gate could be lifted off (subsequent adit repairs make that impossible) and the lock was on a chain that was essentially sacrificial

Before the adit repairs anyone breaking in normally just lifted the gate off its hinges. Pretty simple to put back on, if a little heavy

Why anyone would chose to cut a hardened lock rather than a mild steel chain is beyond me....

Three possibilities.

Only one cut needed for the lock.

The culprit is waging some sort of economic attack.

They are just thick.

Was in Cwmorthin Sunday morning, was quite surprised when there was no lock on the gate, had phoned up on Saturday for the code, the gate was closed and no sign of the lock, chain or debris from cutting off.
Met up with one of the instructors from Gobelow and queried the lock, he said it must have gone Saturday evening as they were in during the day.
Pretty sad world we live in when people get their kicks this way.

Alex.
