There is also a gem at Overton mine...

Hey!! is this another claim to fame? I did a few stints down there in the late 60's / early 70's, anyone else on this forum remember going down there in the "bullet"? I think the driver was called Sid?

Also, IIRC there used to be a headstock at Wakebridge (Crich) ? still there or not?.
Always remember, nature is in charge, get it wrong and it is you who suffers!.

There is the Glory Shaft (above Wakebridge) headgear in the tramway museum, which is on the list.
The Jingler headgear went a while back

I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

Now then, here's another one to mull over.

What about the old Pinxton Green colliery horse gin which is at Wollaton Industrial Museum - it's the one from the mine?

Also are there any other surviving ones (not replicas)?

Underground steel headgear (c.25ft high, 'tower' style - no backstays) and two cages in Bwlchglas Lead Mine at deep adit level, Ceredigion; concrete loadings for winding engine adjacent.

Sorry, it didn't come from Mid Wales, it came from my local mine in Flintshire, N Wales - it was the headgear from the Olwen Goch shaft of the Halkyn - Holywell Mining Co's lead / limestone mines. The Olwen Goch shaft connected with the Milwr Tunnel that drained, and still does, the Halkyn mountain lead mines for over 10 miles inland from Greenfield.

Up until the late 1970's, there were similar headgears at the Llyn y Pandy shaft near Loggerheads and Windmill at Halkyn (which used to be the main ore haulage shaft, over 800ft deep, to the mill complex there that was demolished in the 1960's)
