It is too far for the HSE, I would not mind a trip down there.

Amazing. Quite apart from the poor chap with the wand collecting the current from the overhead lines, it puts the overhead into overhead 🙂 Definitely not a place for people of Vanoord's stature :lol:

Good Grief !! This has, however, prompted me to pop a couple of photos into the DB of Consett Iron Company's electric tramway which ran from Chopwell to Whittonstall drift in the early 1900's. By comparison a much more professional system although in this day and age the HSE would no doubt have something to say about the fire risk during a hot summer where the line passed through woodland ! 😢

Didn't Greenside Mine have an overhead electric system running into the main adit? And the miners had to be wary of carrying their drills on their shoulders? I think it's described in Ian Tyler's book.
