Very odd indeed, it looks as though it might be a swivelling cylinder on this loco - any of our railway buffs able to confirm this?

if by that you mean an oscillating cylinder, the kind of thing found on Mamods and similar low-pressure live-steam toys... no, it's a conventional cylinder with a conventional valve motion.

Yes, I did mean an oscillating cylinder, but had a "craft" moment and couldn't remember the proper name for them.....
