Hi Everyone,

We have been very concerned recently that the increased traffic down and up the tip in chamber 2West floor C to D of the Back Vein is in resulting in significant undermining of the pack walls which retain floor c.

It is not immediately apparent, but a large portion of floor C is re-made floor, and were these pack walls to fail then a section of the floor will be heading down to floor E.

Apart from obvious implications to the validity of Go Below trips, this would result in a significant detrimental effect in this section of the mine.

In an attempt to try and prevent any further deterioration, we have built barrier walls at the top of the tip to try and encourage people away from the pack walls.

To make descent manageable, there is now a new handline on the side wall of the chamber (left side looking down) which we would ask and encourage all mine explorers to use on every occasion please.

It is extremely important that the pack walls are not undermined any further.

Best wishes,

Chris Phillips
