Nothing special really from today's meeting, just general thoughts and ideas. Still, it is progress.

Someone suggested the Billiard Hall in Blaenau. Apparantly they also have a side room. Anyone got any contacts there?

I will PM MP as soon as I have pressed the submit button here.

Dafydd Gwyn has had a meeting with RCAHMW and they have agreed to do a thorough survey of all the buildings at Maen Offeren using their laser surveying device. This is likely to be in August as they are going to meet with Llechwedd end of this month to discusss arrangements.

R2D2 comes to Blaenau! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is that the robot that was on TV (last year?) surveying a drum house at Dinorwic?
Been injured while at work and are not to blame?

Get over it.

Yes, that's the one! It was a case of either calling it R2D2 or "Dusty Bin"! I thought the former sounded better. ๐Ÿ˜‰

R2D2 was the smaller of the two robots in Star Wars, the one that looked a bit like a dustbin on short legs!

Edit:-

I have found a nice photo of R2D2 here

My previous post was slightly premature (the information came to me indirectly). At present they are making initial surveys and carrying out risk assessments. The full survey will be in a month or so.

One thing I have just learnt though. Apparently in the last couple of days a wagon has been moved "to a place ready for removal". I am not sure at present which type of wagon is involved. The police have been notified of this. If anyone is up there (or in the area) and sees anything suspicious dial 999!

I wonder what sort of wagon?

And are we talking about underground or above ground?

If it's the latter, I'd suspect that one of the BEVs might be very appealing, but I have no idea how you'd move it other than in bits.

I have asked what type of wagon. I think it must be from above ground.

if you guys recall, there where 3 wagons near the entrance to 2 1/2 pitt (David Jones part of MO), with slate slabs on them, the middle one was a GWR one, and had 2 heavy slabs placed on it. Wel, Monday night, a gang somehow jaked up the slabs off the wagon, and removed the wagon, then, i presume pushed it to the mill, and left it half way on the raill in the mill - in the "tunnel" between the saw area and where the yellow BEV is now located, (if that makes sence?).

This is a heave wagon- which is why i' m convinced a gang must have been involved in it's removal, and subsuquent re- placing...

Very, very odd.

I know the price of metal is quite good at the moment, but surely that much iron can't be worth the hassle?

I should think it's somebody collecting it rather than weighing it in this time :curse:

Seems odd that they have pushed inside the mill in that case. Unless it is to make it's appearance (for collection) less obvious?

Something makes me think that is destined for a collector rather than the scrapman, or genuenly placed "indoors" to protect it from the elements, however, the whole thing seems odd!
The Police are informed and keeping an eye out... (if thats not an oxymoron then I don't know what is!!)

If that is the case all the wooden wagons (and remains thereof) should be moved indoors too! The GWR wagon will stand more weather than the wooden ones will. I wonder if "they" thought it was in danger of being crushed by passing Hymacs?

I don't think that crushing slate wagons is in hymac580c 's nature! ๐Ÿ˜‰
