Has anyone ever come across a name for this level?
It doesn't appear on any maps I have and I've never seen it named anywhere.

Tempting just to lump it in with Longcleugh but probably not the best idea since it's going the opposite way into totally different veins.

There is a Kiersleywell Mine nearby at GR NY776514 close to Kiersleywell Row. Could this be the one ? There is a Kiersleywell Row mine listed in the database at GR NY774575 but as this is miles away near Bearbridge I think it must be inaccurate.

There was a YGS paper on the geology of Longcleugh - not sure whether it names this level and also....what does Ray Fairbairn say?

According to Ray Fairbairn a level was opened by Ferguson, Wild and Co Ltd in 1970-71 opposite Longcleugh in a search for Witherite after the closure of Settlingstones but they seemingly failed to find anything of commercial value. This was on the North bank of Whitewalls Burn.

I Know the level you mean, a Cumbrian pal and me explored it several years back ,there's a nice bench at the forehead, I think your right Ferguson Wilde did open it up in the 70s

yep it's the one Ferguson Wilde and Co reopened that I mean, and there were three boreholes drilled from it, it's not Keirsleywell.

Fairbairn mentions it but only as being opposite Longcleugh, I've mislaid my copy of the YGS article but I don't think it was named in that either.

It's headed for Crooked Bridge Veins so maybe it could go into the database as Crooked Bridge Vein Level. Doesn't seem like anyone is going to be searching for it by it's original name anyhow.
