To return to the subject proper, I thought the Quarry Hunslet fans would like my little shunting film I took at Statfold.

EDIT Might as well have a pair if Jinty's at work as well!!! ::)

Fabulous footage of the QH! They have such a bark when working hard. Looks sweet in green, too, although perhaps a little too clean! Great film.
If the phone didn''t ring, it was probably me.

Nice clip, specially the firehole door technique.

The loco must be working fairly hard during the clip and the steam in the cab really highlights how the blast is drawing the 2ndry air in thru the firebox.... the firebox doors are operated by a foot treadle I believe. I like that he did at least take care of the corners!

Thanks for that, what a lovely bark. I was there last Sept and couldn't believe the gradients they work over, lots of sand required! đŸ™‚

More full on Steam on the mainline in the Midlands today. A4 Pacific 'Bittern' worked masquerading as 'Dominion of New Zealand' in full 1930s streamling as per how we all think of Mallard... It was doing a good 70mph when taken here Sawmills, near Ambergate in Derbyshire.

Yes I love my LMS engines but the Coro's don't do it for me either with the stream lining. Much nicer without and much easier to work on.
Am off out tomorrow at midland centre as we have both Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose posed together with Duchess of Sutherland... I am on the Jinty Tank 47324 shunting them all around  Life is just so naff at times!
