You do whatever you want but have to book onto the trips.
As the lectures are on Saturday and Sunday along with the trips its impossible to do both, but a half day trip could enable attending the lectures on the other half.

Thats the problem of course, you cant do both, but can work in a talk you want to hear with a trip on the same day if you play your cards right. The talks are fairly accurately timed which helps.

Henfwlch

I have been working things out re a possible round trip and noting that the no 1 winze which takes water is only vertical for 8 metres before it picks up a slight underlie. This makes it feasible to build a small concrete dam and duct the water down the vertical section using heavy duty PVC pipe.
This would make a reasonable, easy grade SRT, then a very short traverse, maybe plankway, to the packwall bank and then back up the handline in Waterfall Stope.

I can do this.

Lecture program update

Mine exploration as a research tool - applications in mining history, geology and archaeology

Mine exploration, using speleological techniques, takes the researcher into a new and potentially rewarding aspect of mining history and archaeology. It also provides a very different view of the geology and mineralogy to that seen at surface.

The lecture programme at NAMHO 2019 seeks to provide an insight into the research potential for mine exploration and those who use their speleological / caving skills to access abandoned mines.

Offers of papers have already been received which will provide a broad coverage of the subject - from Cornwall to North Wales. Mine exploration has provided an insight into many aspects of past underground activity from prehistoric copper working to medieval quarrying. There will also be papers on the benefits of mine surveys, on firesetting, on mine exploration on Mendip, and on the post-medieval / modern mines of the Gwydyr Forest, in North Wales. And, as the conference location is rich in underground archaeological and geological evidence, there will be detailed accounts of the mines of the Rheidol and Yswyth valleys.

Most attendees will be there to go underground and there is a lot on offer.

Also, as I said before I intend to see that nobody misses out. However there is an advanced SRT trip on the Sunday (Rosa/Pughs) that is restricted on numbers. I cannot help this its down to the nature of the trip.

Talybont- Alltycrib

Permission has been obtained to open the forestry barrier for safe off road parking. Please park in designated areas an do not obstruct the track. There is a picnic table at the top of the site adjacent to main parking area.

It was deemed that not all wanted one thing there it was called a conference ie a get together of mining historians whether be rope swingers or academics. The title was toensure that the event was inclusive whatever the interest. It was deemed the host cub would lay on the event and offer as little or as much of the aspect that could. For instance NMRS held a purely lectures at a Motel nr Bradford it was a time of foot and mouth but their access to underground sites at that time was very limited .

It was called a conference that could mean anything to the hosts and they could put on as little as much as they so wished . Bearing mind the need to provide for all
