A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: Thursday daytimers - Photo and survey visit to "Prouds sump" flats

Date & time: 25/04/2013 at 10:30

Details: Meet at Nenthead Mines car park 1030 hrs. Leisurely walk up Rampgill Level and scramble/ladder climb up into Prouds Sump flats in Great Limestone. Interesting geology, artefacts and evidence of method of working in flats. Water up to 1.0 metre deep in Rampgill Level.
Opportunities for interesting photos.

Annoyingly, I shall be in the area tomorrow for the first time in years. But I have to be at Killhope for an underground inspection at 10am!!

Go to Whisky Bottle corner and follow the right hand water flow up Hangingshaw Level. Follow the main haulage/water route until you reach two sets of wheels and axles on the LH side.( a longish trudge ). Stop, and go back to the last hopper before this point on the LH side.

A pleasant trip, thanks to Peter and Colin.
It's amazing what you can do on a Thursday if you are in the right part of the country. I didn't get home in time to nip over to North Wales for an evening trip though......
