A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: Boulby Mine Visit June 2009

Date & time: 16/06/2009 at 10:00

Details: Tuesday 16th June 2009

A third visit to Boulby mine for AditNow members, following two excellent trips there last year.

Again grateful thanks to Cleveland Potash and their safety manager for allowing and guiding these tours.

You will need to be at the mine office at 10am. The tour will last until approximately 4pm and will take in both underground and above ground. The bulk of the time will be spent underground where you will descend several thousand feet and then travel out under the North Sea to the working potash district.

A fascinating insight into a massive operating mine.

Simon can you put me at the top of the reserve list, as I live quite local & could attend at short notice if required 😉

Thanks Jimbo, that's very good of you. I've put you on the reserve list now.

I hope we might get another later in the year, but because of the popularity of these trips can't guarantee it at this stage.

Up to 7 people confirmed as attending now.

Once this trip is full I will keep a list of reserve names in case anybody has to pull out (Jimbo already on the list)

I will also ask them if they'll consider us for another trip later in the year.

Good to see you all enjoyed it. I think it was most of the group's first visit to Boulby? It really is unlike anything else that you can get to experience in the UK unless you work in the mining industry.

We just wanted to say thanks Simon for arranging this visit and to Neil and Cleveland Potash for their hospitality.

It was our first trip and we had a fantastic time! The three hours underground literally flew by. Boulby is a magnificent operation and it is great to see real large scale mining still happening in this country.

It was great to meet everyone and hopefully we will see you underground in the future sometime.

I'd like to add my thanks to Simon for arranging the visit and to Neil for the information/presentation above ground and the fantastic mine tour and also the other folks behind the scenes at Cleveland Potash who provided all our kit , coffee and bacon sandwiches!! Also to thank the miners who talked to us and showed how things worked.
It was great to meet the others in the group too, thanks for the pics Jimbo!
I had an absolutely brilliant day, thank you all.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

I'm home again now (via a rather circuitous route) and would like to echo the thanks to Neil and his colleagues at Cleveland Potash  It was the first time I had been in a working mine and it was truly an amazing experience. ;D

(In case you were wondering, I was the person who turned up in soaking wet jeans 😉 )

on a slightly different note, can anyone PM me a contact at the mine?

I've been meaning to add Boulby to my contact list for some time, but I usually do this by contacting an individual rather than sending cvs to disappear into the bottomless pit of the HR office .. works for me.
