I'm going to have to duck out of this trip due to family commitments on that day.

So there's one space up for grabs (spaces limited to 8 for this trip).
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

That would be 2 spaces up for grabs then!

I think Lab Rat was interested, but there's a good few weeks before the trip anyhow, I'm sure they'll fill up.

Quick boost for this trip - it's a superb trip and well worth coming along (please note- SRT is required).

However, we need a person with a 4x4 to tow the winch (about a mile i think) can anyone volenteer? :flowers:

Is the trip generally a walk round or is there much crawling / hands and knees?

Ok I'm guessing that the reson it's a winch trip is that it's a shaft....and a deep one....and thats why we need a winch? Not being sarcastic, I genuinly don't know....! :flowers: By this I mean I assume it can't be done without the winch?!?

Ay, it's a big drop (from the description, I've not been there - and can't make this trip).

Winch is the only option, SRT kit is required, but you do have to use the winch; up and down.

hubby has done it an says its about 300 feet and you clip into the winch cable on a bob weight with yuor cowtails and ride in your harness
you land on a plank at water level and unclip but the shaft carries on down but flooded. follow a mine level though a part collapse to a climbing shaft with fixed ladders to a wet level to a choke into the main cave stream. the cap is quite close to the road.

thats right. it could be done with SRT, but you wouldn't want to. i think the record for climbing the shaft on ropes is about 45minutes- the rest of the group would be a little cold by the time everyone was out! basically the SRT kit is needed as a back-up just in case any problems, but you shouldn't need to. clip in with your cows tails and off you go!

ok, i think i've worked out how to post this link:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Minera,+Wrexham&hl=en&ll=53.048544,-3.119565&spn=0.002064,0.007703&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=16.5235,46.450195&vpsrc=6&z=18  :flowers:

i couldn't work out how to put in a marker- so it's really zoomed in! basically it's above minera- towards world's end on a small single track road, it's fairly obvious as there are rough tracks around clear workings. park on the road in the passing places (bad i know but there's no other options.) there are more passing places further up the road. if you struggle- drive up and down the road till you see a red micra- then follow it as i drive in circles!!!

if folks could give us a hand setting up the scafold for the winch that would be really appreciated. :flowers:

See ya saturday!

I'm assuming we're meeting at 10am.
