Probably too collapsed, concrete plugged, rotten-stempled, missing laddered, unjustifiably risky - and mabe a thousand other types of impossible, but... could it still be done, just maybe?

Or am I posting this idiotic question 20 years too late?

Western Cwffty from Parc is definitely on, refer to the Parc thread, but a "through Trip", as follows.

1/Cwffty deep adit has been blocked for years.
2/Cwffty Western Shaft is grilled, so no entry.
3/Eastern cwffty by way of the stopes, entry from bat castle if a bar is still missing, is possible, you would have a 'nervy' traverse in the Eastern section of Cwffty 25 and drop a short ladder into Parc 2.

Chris JC can probably enlarge on option 3

Please note that Cwffty 25 is in 2 separate sections, eastern, and western.

Have walked (waded) along what we believed to be the hafna connection, it ends in solid rock! While there are workings in the hafna lode I dont think they ever connected up.

As an after thought to mine above, instead of the 'traverse of death' in Eastern Cwffty 25, you could SRT down to Parc 3, but expect plop into deep water and ochre, if I have the location correct.

I have also looked at the mythical Hafna to Parc trip, but from the Parc end.

As I recall, there is a reasonable amount of working on the relevant lode, but as you travel towards Hafna, the floor slowly rises with washed in fines, until it reaches the roof. There was water issuing. So clearly once you could go further, but whether as far as Hafna is different. I suspect unlikely as there are intermediate workings I think.

And for getting into the eastern part of Cyffty, the bat castle was passable in the late 90's. The descent to be able to see into Parc across the stope as I recall wasn't difficult or hard to find. But too much time has passed to be more precise! And probably by now the bat castle will have been welded up again.

From memory, anything from Parc towards Hafna got flooded and filled with tailings from the slimes pond when the roof failed.
Water poured into the hole for years taking slimes with it. The water then re-appeared out of no 3 adit.
This was cured in the mid nineties as one of the reclamation schemes. That one was done by Jones of Ruthin at the same time they did the Hafna tips.

Thanks everyone!
Had sounded intriguing until slime was mentioned, I the greatest admiration (and appreciation) for people who can do long term digging projects in filthy conditions but my domestic circumstances (lack of free time, young family) mean that's not going to get dug out by me, sorry!

Cyffty - Parc is probably more sensible (or should I say marginally less insane...) option. I think the second route option sounds more tempting. Probably me being a wimp, but I'd pick a less wet option every time, but then again I'd be very disappointed if there wasn't some srt involved... Each to their own!

It is possible that there may be a route to surface via stopes on the reservoir lode. There's quite a bit of water coming down from what I remember, and you can climb at least some of it. It would be quite a bit short of Hafna though.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
