Does this mean Vanoord's barbeque won't be attending? ;(

Vanoord is attending his niece's christening on the 21st.

Vanoord is very much less than impressed about this. :curse:

I therefore see nothing in the way of you riding over and joining us for the Sunday trip.

SRT kit will be provided and there'll be some big drops on Sunday, although the actual trip can be customised a bit and there's plenty of other options in the area if people (i.e. me!) opt for something gentler...

Ah, i'm sure everyone will realise this, but thought i'd better point it out- i think Simon means that SRT kit is REQUIRED, not that he's intending to turn up with it for everyone!!

Well I reckon that looking at what mines you are visiting, In my opinion Vanoord is doing the sensible thing and staying at home, GP/Youds level is not my idea of fun!!!! I woundn't mind so much if there was anything worth seeing, it's almost like caving

Done the trip, couple and a half times, don't like it, much prefer the bigger more modern mines, that one can walk around in, or drive round in,don't mind long wet soughs though, I'm more interested in the mechanical engineering aspects 😉

Brakeman. have you seen the upper half of the through trip. your trip / photo's suggest entry and exit from Youds , not Gentlewomans shaft, If so i appreciate your point. going up the coffin level, and back down is a chore despite the marvel of its being hand picked before steel tooling.
There's soooo much more to see.
Regards O. G.

I have not done done the upper level, as you say my trips have been Youds, I remember doing it on my once circa 1985 I reached a very low area beyond the inclined backfill, the part that hurts your knees, the way ahead was blocked, though a small amount of water was coming through. My problem really was the fact I found nothing to interest me personally, (except as you rightly say, marvelling at the work of driving the coffin level) my main interest lay with the spar mines that were accessable at that time namely Longrake, Sallet etc.

Hi Brakeman, Yes your point is bang on. it's a bitch up and down!. the low bit where the water entered from above is where an intrepid party will also emerge some time on sat'  with only one pass of youds to do.
cheers.O.G.

Hope it's a good trip though

Is everything taken care of re rigging the trips or should I chuck some ropes and rigging gear in the car?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
