Just got back. Had a cracking day and really hope everybody else enjoyed it as much as I did.
It was really atmospheric exploring by Oldham and Petzl Gloom, and definitely put a completely different feel to the trip (and to Cwmorthin). But those old lights are so dim :lol: Honestly, the Petzl Zoom was just like not having a lamp on at all (I had an Oldham so was a bit better off :)).
We did:
Lake level to old vein incline, down the old vein incline to D floor, under the floating bridges and up to look at the one with the little side bridge. Then back up join to the usual round trip and B floor, down to the boiler chamber, Ch34 incline, lunch at the caban, G floor, up the manway to DE then split into two. One group who had a few specific things they wanted to see* and the other who went beyond the crane chamber and under the lake to the end of E floor.
* the LED lights may just have come out briefly at this stage 😞
I think the most atmospheric bit was the along B floor just by candlelight :)
Hopefully a good day had by all :)
Tell you what though... we don't know we're born with these modern LED lights :lol:
By popular demand I think there might be a lamp light trip at some point (merddinemrys bought one along today). Although there's an idea about this for the christmas Nent trip, but I might defer posting that to Rockchick because I'm afraid of being mocked :lol:
