Just to echo what the others have said, an excellent weekend of exploration in good company. And sincere thanks to Roy for his expert guidance and knowledge. You get so much more out of an explore when you go with somebody who really knows the history of a place, and in Roy's case, dug it out 😉 The work done in Allt y Crib was amazing.

The dead sheep descent, Roy's Revolting Rovings if I recall correctly, is something I won't be repeating though. At some point today I'm going to have to wash that rope 😮

I don't suppose anybody knows the name of the mine/quarry you could see at the head of the valley from Bwlchglas do they? The one with the incline.

Its Hafan, it worked the same lode or lodes as Henfwlch but I believe, as did the late David Bick, that the two mines never connected although worked together.
The water from Henfwlch definitely exits by the Hafan deep adit however, so must drain by fissures.

I remember you explaining how Henfwlch drained into Hafan but never put two and two together about where exactly Hafan was.

Edit: all making a bit more sense now - found an article on the Plynlimon and Hafan Tramway which DaveL had mentioned.I was looking at the granite quarry high on the hill - wondered why it didn't took much like a lead mine. Richard.
