Had a chance to have a sit in the winch control room in Bersham today. The 900hp motor and gear are still in really good condition.
They open the last Sunday of every month for a few hours and is worth a look around and could really do with the numbers to build up the coffers...
The people running it are in there 70s and looking for young blood to help..

If it's open the same time every month then Sunday 29th May is in my diary. What times of day do they typically open it between?

Around 10am.its worth a couple of hours.
You will have to ask to look at the control room because it's usually off limits.

I've added a lot more photos of Bersham Colliery.

In July 2002, Shropshire Mines Trust helped to set up Bersham Colliery Trust Ltd with ex-miners Ted and Glyn. A few cleaning sessions were held in the Engine House to make it presentable and an Open Day held. It was hoped that this would encourage more locals to join in but it didn't. Eventually the lack of interest led to the Trust being placed into liquidation.

In 2009, the North Wales Miners Association Trust was set up with some ex-miners and younger people. This is still going but needs more younger members to survive. They hold regular open days and their website is at
