I'm doing a write-up on this mine, it's hoped to include something about it in a 2021 update to the 1975 ''Mines & Minerals of the Ochils''. It was actually called Loss Mine, identified 1717 and worked on and off from 1723 (ish) to 1763.
Two adits upper and lower unconnected. looks like the upper saw most activity because of the amount of spoil. A lot of spoil was used building the drystane dykes around there.
Some great photos on the site here, I'll maybe be back for permission to use nearer publication (if at all) time.

Oh...anybody got anything on the Airthrey Silver Mine in the same locality? Aye, I know, its a copper mine.
Cheers all and take care.

Aithrey Mine.
"Old copper mine, worked mostly in 17th & 18th centuries. Level and collapsed shaft in woods above Bridge of Allan. There are said to be shafts and a level in private property in the town itself."

I would suggest that you contact Dr stephen Moreton, who has already written a book on Alva, and is very intersted in all the 0chill mines.
send me a pm for his Email address.

Hi. Could you please put me on your list for the publication so I can put a copy in the study centre at Wanlockhead. Many thanks. Jeremy

Airthrey Silver Mine is a totally different mine to the copper mine above BofA
There is an open adit next to the burn on the hairpin bends going up Sherifmui from Logie Kirk
It is a mystery though as it is a short tunnel with no evidence of mineral deposits - more like a trial.
Airthrey seems to have been used interchangeably in describing the mines

Hi. Airthrey silver mine. Is at NS815972, on Canmore under 2 site ID, 295302 gives it as a Silver mine, 47120 as a copper mine, both refer to it as 'Logie Burn Strip. Memoirs of the Geological Survey, Scotland, Special report on the mineral resources of Great Britain. Vol XVII The Lead, Zinc Copper and Nickel Ores of Scotland 1921 Page 142 also calls it a silver mine and gives it the name of Airthrey silver mine. Hope this helps. Jeremy

Hi Jeremy L.
I'm just catching up on stuff and see your note about the Mining Museum at Wanlockhead and a copy of the proposed ''Mines & Minerals of the Ochils''. Ok I've made a note in the file to let you know when or if we can get it published.
