hi all,

I am looking to go into a mine somewhere in the Lake District (nearer Carlisle way as I'm coming from newcastle) I was mine or something like a mine what I can go and explore in without supervision, I have been in a old abandoned mine near little town which is in the lakes, if you could tell me some which hopefully are quite nearer each other and if you can post pictures if that's aloud,
It doesn't 100% need to be in the lakes just around the North west (Carlisle way) or North East
Thanks

if your coming from newcastle why not just go at some of the stuff nearer? consett/stanhope/killhope/nenthead etc?

Damned if you do, and damned if you don''''''''t.

I was at university in Noocasleman many years ago. My old lecturer pointed me in the direction of nenthead. He was a minerals man.

Bloody brilliant place. Sadly, I didn't have the eyes I have now, or a head torch, or SRT gear.

Smallcleugh would seem to tick all the boxes, loads to explore in relative safety and mostly on one level.
Don't look so embarrassed, it's a family trait...

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
