I notice in the latest N.M.R.S. newsletter photographs of various entrances to this stone mine being sealed with substantial steel tubing.
This is being carried out by Hanson, as a direct result of people getting lost in the mine.
Have I missed this being discussed in the forum?

Hanson's.........................Yes!

Rescues..........................YES!!

Forum discussion: DP and Here limited, 28Days - a few nice photos, as for UkChaving - Bloodbath - don't even bother looking!

I thought I had been transported into a parallel universe where urban explorers debated stuff like grown adults and cavers descended into the abyss of shame. 😠

Ever wander round an old engine house? Pithead baths? Fanhouse? Taken pictures? Congratulations, you're an Urbexer! You therefore must be a chavvy, stealing, destructive child by your inferred logic.

Yes.
Do we have to categorise people, the good and bad?
We have enough divisions in our society.

Some people from 28DL took a load of my rubbish out of Talybont. The bitter lemon bottles tend to accumulate wherever I am working.

Well, despite the impression I might have given, I am not a labeller! I'm off to and old fort and a bunker in a few weeks time 🙂

I don't think it has been discussed and despite some of the comments above, which miss the point, this is a significant loss. The issue reported in the NMRS NL is that a group was unable to exit due to a recently installed gate and that the batteries on their phones, which they were using for illumination, did not have enough capacity to get them out the way they entered so they phoned to be rescued!

Yet again the actions of an irresponsible few have caused problems for the majority.

Real shame was due to visit this in a few weeks at the start of September, does anybody know if access is still possible at all? Obviously, i have all the required equipment and won't be needing to phone the rescue team because i'm lost and out of batteries!

How these people ever consider it a good idea to go underground with phones as torches and more than likely a builders hat at the most probably no helmet at all, i really don't know, i don't even like visiting the small mines in the peak district without enough batteries to last me a week!

Nope, Nada, Nicht....ALL major entrances, A4 Door, Backdoor, Jacks and Lady Hamiltons are sealed up! - the Airshafts are on MoD land and Cathedral "Hole to daylight" is om Private land and the landowner isn't keen on come and all appearing in the garden with miles of rope and kit!

Your point is?

If you want to threaten me with your mates, grow a spine and do it properly. Much as I've said to Simon I'll play nice on here, I will not take threats lying down, especially from you.

Thanks guys clearly I had missed a bit!
Not knowing this area, I would have hoped that a local club, would have tried to negotiate access arrangements, with presumably Hanson?
Somebody needs to keep an eye on the bats!
Since without their presence Hanson would have used a few loads of ready mix.
This whole episode seems to be a re-run of the Alderly Edge saga, but hopefully it will end, like there in controlled access being made available.

Tis a shame what's happening but you can't have regular rescue and vandalism. I know of at least 1 airshaft, perhaps access control would only allow SRT competent bona fide explorers with BCA insurance.

Oh and for the record I thought Peter Burgess comments were funny not a personal attack

Hanson's have right royally thrown their toys away and a not prepared to enter into any discussion with anyone: Be they regional bodies, clubs or individuals. I suspect that registered batfiddlers will have access through Cliftworks Entrance, (but don't quote me on that, its the easiest lockable way in). As for future access, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting..............
