I know of at least 1 airshaft, perhaps access control would only allow SRT competent bona fide explorers with BCA insurance.

Yeah we'd all look like right twits in neon plaid (shudder) golfing attire! although the wheeled thing might be ok for transporting kit!!
Better to regret something you have done - than to regret something you have not done.

Tis a shame what's happening but you can't have regular rescue and vandalism. I know of at least 1 airshaft, perhaps access control would only allow SRT competent bona fide explorers with BCA insurance.

Oh and for the record I thought Peter Burgess comments were funny not a personal attack

Mike

Thanks Mike. Spot on. Glad someone saw nothing more than a simple play on words.

Thanks guys clearly I had missed a bit!
Not knowing this area, I would have hoped that a local club, would have tried to negotiate access arrangements, with presumably Hanson?
Somebody needs to keep an eye on the bats!
Since without their presence Hanson would have used a few loads of ready mix.

I believe it all stems from an individual who suffered an injury in Box Quarry, and decided to sue both Hansons and The Quarrymans Arms (who had loaned the key). I would like to know who they are.

If I were Hansons, I would throw my toys out of the pram!

Let's see what happens, I am sure an equilibrium will be restored.....

I have only been to box twice and got lost on one of those occasions so I aint no expert, however reading around the various sources it appears to be business as usual despite the new gates or grills, and it seems that the old girl still has her knickers down to those regular punters in the know, so hopefully it may just blow over in time and resume to something like normal but without all of the drama or rescues.

Thanks for the info Peter. As I do not frequent the Darkness below site was completely unaware, of your efforts.
Perhaps, some one in your group could suggest that this less accommodating attitude, may just rebound on them.
By this I mean, these public quarrying companies, are always up against the NIMBiES and others, so when they go to a planning meeting they will looking for all the support they can get!
Whilst I am stating that you should directly inform them of this, it should definitely be part of any strategy.

While I agree with your sentiments, John, the DarknessBelow website is not a "group" - it's a news site, and as such is attempting to just inform people of what's happening rather than actively lobbying - that's for clubs, representative bodies and similar organisations to do.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
