Bit of a long shot this possibly ....

But !!!

I got into mine exploring industrial archeology a good few years back due to being dragged along by my old man ...

My first underground trip was the Rhossyd 9-5 through trip back when i was about 10 years old (@1976 yehh you do the maths lol)He first got interested in industrial archeology via the Plas Tan y Bwylch courses they ran back then .

Just wondering if anyone on here knows anyone that may have met him back then or know anyone that did as i'm sure he'd love to hear from them.

I've promised him a trip to north Wales to re- kindle some memories at some point this year (been a while since we got thrown out of MF on boxing day,a couple of years back ,by the mine manager...ooops )

His name is John sanderson also known as Jack sanderson ...Retired builder from Stockport cheshire .

Long shot i know BUT Have to try

I have posted over on ME and it was suggested that i might try over here too

Cheers guys

Cheers guys ...the help is muchly appreciated .....

I was chatting to my dad last night and he is having a mooch through the photos he took at the time,
to see if there are some that might be of interest that i can scan and perhaps post one here and ME if they are of interest.
He is also having a chat with a mate of his that was along at the time and was a pro photographer .

Yes please 🙂 Really enjoy looking at the archive Welsh slate material. It's often a reminder of what's no longer accessible, or even what's not there any more. There's an archive album for each mine / quarry in the database :flowers:

Hmmm Know that one all too well .....

On my first trip up to Rhossyd we walked through the still extant workshops at Cwmorthin,
I remember being fascinated by the way the river was deep below the workshop levels in channels formed by the sawn waste slate .......

All sadly gone now as is an awful lot of other stuff ....

Simpler times they were

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
