Oops, I was looking at the wrong track there, sorry! Don't think the one you're looking at is in the database. Anybody got any ideas?

Not sure.... could be either a slate or base-metal trial. There are a few poorly-recorded things around and there is certainly a lot of sulphide veining and slate in the district!

'Old Lead Mine' is shown on the 1st and subsequent editions 6" map at SH680421 with a 'Level' shown just north of it. The map shows what may be tip associated with the lead mine.

The location is marked as 'Level (dis)' on the current 1:10,000 map.

Some slate material was extracted there in the 1960's to the early 1980's by 3 different persons to my knowlege.
It was worked prior to that sparadicaly. Quite overgrown with trees now, remains of the shed and some domestic junk is all there is to see. Not big at all and the workings was basicaly just extracting what slate there was to be seen on the surface.
The most recent was for making slate craft etc. I do not know what it was called though.
Nice walk down thrugh cwm Cynfal on a dry day. Or walk up the track at the bottom of 'allt goch' by the bend about 100 yds to get to the quarry.
There is another quarry further down the main road opposite the Llechrwd caravan site. It is called 'Braich Goch. It was last used for material for slate craft.

Sounds about right as my father does slatecrafts.he used to glue big pieces of fools gold on slate coasters as gifts back in the 70's 80's.
