There was an article in last months 'Dalesman' about the discovery of 'Buckden Bill" in 1964.

Fortunately the author has also put it on his website.

One of Michael Dickinson's stories featured the hat. JMD attempted to liberate the hat from the mine but was halted by a large policeman who reminded him that it was evidence for the inquest. Interesting that it is very similar to the hats worn by Derbyshire miners - see PDMHS photo of Mr Millington.

Reckon it must have been the walk up there that did for him! Sweaty work on a warm day.

Very true, I certainly felt like I wanted to curl up and die after the walk to get there.
