I gave one calender as a Christmas present last year. The recipient was very suprised when I told him none of the photographs was taken by a professonal photographer, he was stunned by the quality.

Just got back from 2 weeks Hols in Turkey and picked up this thread.... My tuppence here is that as someone who does rail, airliner, industrial archaeology, mining and ancient buildings photographs I think site has got a tremendous balance in terms of underground/surface/archive/recent archive etc and as such is a fantastic mining/photography archive... hence why I feel so happy my pictures have a living thriving home where they get used and looked at.... photographic standards on here are superb for many reasons and I know many who use the site and have joined because of this.
I think a high quality book of photo's from this site covering surface and below ground would make a great coffee table book... the general public have a fearful interest in old mines and abandoned buildings and so a book would appeal to the hobby and the gen public.
We should certainly consider a public gallery or display...

I second your thoughts on that one Ian and have often thought that a travelling exhibition of maybe 30 to 50 of the best accross the board, might be arranged by area administrators. I'm sure I could arrange for a free display area down here. I might just have to call in a few favours but hey, what do we do this for? Be good to show the rest of the community that this isn't just a bunch of nutters jumping down every available hole in the ground for the hell of it.
By the way the Holman plate is now promised to the Robinsons engine house visitor centre project when it is up and running and some personal paperwork to go with it. a long and roundabout route but Back home again!

It is also hoped that work will start soon on renovating the Horizontal winding engine at Robinson's.
Here's a couple of pics taken just before work started on the site.

A very interesting idea!
I'm suprised that there hasn't already been a formal request for commercial use of some of the pictures on Aditnow...not mine, I hasten to add!
Postcards is another idea. They do appeal and sell to people who don't want to spend £££ on art/exhibition prints.
What about the Aditnow (coffee table) book of the best 100 pictures?
Where were you thinking of exhibiting MP?

They do crop up from time to time Gwyn. I generally just put the person enquiring in direct contact with the person who took the photograph.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

how about redbubble?
i have an account http://www.redbubble.com/people/ferret  and they are a very good site, well managed with a high standard of work online and good production quality of prints (I have had a one of my own picas printed and framed by them and would recommend)
I've looked though the FAQ etc. and cant see anything to stop organisations setting up an account ether so there could be an Aditnow account and a cwmorthin appeal account too for people to add there work too and the funds be used respectively.
just a thought but my prove useful.

Great news on Holman plate Roy.

I think a display would go well in many former mining towns and cities. Lots of people ask me "well were do you upload pics to" and I tell em here... they usually favourite the site or end up joining.... people do have a fascination with anything old and love poking around old places like mine buildings... even though they will never want to be an expert.
Hence the thought re a book or display.
You imagine a nice A4 Hardback book stuffed with quality photos from members covering surface and underground of an artistic / professional quality . Title might be "Britains old mines - Above and Below"
People in general have an interest in whats below their feet and love to see pictures of the mines in their local districts even though they dont want to get into all the history and go exploring... it would certainly appeal to me and my friends of similar interest as it would be great to see mining shots and buildings/rems from across uk in a single pick up book.

Oh well just a thought. đŸ˜‰
