Visit the Grade II* former Lewis Merthyr Colliery and book an underground experience tour, fully guided by ex-miners. The tour normally incurs a charge but it is offered free on Saturdays throughout September.*
During your visit you can also enjoy the Visitor Centre which contains a museum, period shops, cafe and art gallery.

Take the A470 to Pontypridd.
At Pontypridd take the A4058 Rhondda Valleys and turn left when you reach Trehafod (brown signs). Arriva train service to Trehafod * Station. Stagecoach bus service to Trehafod.

Underground not suitable for wheelchairs. Wear flat enclosed shoes -some rough ground
