A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: See How They Run - Working Machinery Day

Date & time: 23/03/2014 at 10:00

Details: It that time of the year again and hopefully this year no postponements due to snow!

Working at Caphouse Colliery (National Coal Mining Museum for England) on Sunday 23 March will be:

Underground
Eimco bucket loader
Wolf compressed air turbine lighting
Compressed air endless haulage & mine tub
Compressed air hand-tools (jigger pick and borer)

(available via special underground tours 11am, 12pm, 1pm & 2pm)

Surface
Dosco Mk.2 Roadheader
BJD ACE coal cutter
Eimco model 11 rocker shovel
Pit pony talks (with our two Welsh Mountain Ponies)
Clayton 2'6" gauge BE Bo-Bo running ride trains to Hope Pit
Caphouse steam winding engine (hourly from 11am)
Access to the large object store

and new for this year

Hope pit electric winding engine on Hope shaft
Line shafting and workshop equipment in the Hope Pit workshops

There'll also be an opportunity to see the Hudswell Clarke 2'6" gauge 100hp 0-6-0 underground diesel we've been working on over the winter.

Its all free to enter and runs until 4pm.

Regrettably underground photography won't be permitted due to Mines & Quarries regulations.

I'll be running the line shafting in the workshop and the electric winder alternately if anyone wants to pop along for a chat.
