Cyfannedd copper/slate mine - Wet, crawling, muddy, and a shaft! Also the home of possibly Wales' largest pretty formation (not including caves) Problem is its only a tiny place!

Blaenau Ffestiniog & thereabouts - dry, high roofs that even I can't bang my head on, long days underground.

Dinorwic - perhaps a nice day wandering about in the doubtless blazingly hot Welsh sun.

But I'll just go with the flow & whine if we end up anywhere horrible!

Will start giving this some proper though next week - assuming we all make it back from Derbyshire

Right, made it back alive from Derbyshire; although yesterday 'alive' isn't a description I'd give of how I felt

So, I guess a few things need deciding about the North Wales meet.

I think we're agreed on it's 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and camping at Maentwrog (same place at last year, the camp site on the river near the Oakeley Arms).

Could extend to 4 days if there's demand. Altough as all these trips end up being rather full on 4 days might be a bit of a killer?

Trips-wise, over to you. I'm easy, I live here so don't really mind what we do

Assuming there won't be howls of protest I'd suggest an overground day at Dinorwic, it would be a great day to spend a day if the weather is good and you've not already seen it. I'm sure a round trip could be worked out taking all the good bits in, various tunnels, bits nobody bothers with (lift inclines and the like) and the ladders.

Dinorwic yes.
As for the rest of the weekend, like most people I have countless grubby little holes close to home I can visit on an evening. If we're planning on having a weekend in the land of the whopping great holes then it seems a shame not to take advantage of them!

Dinorwic sounds good, always plenty to see even when you think you've seen most of it! I'm off to cornwall for two weeks on the Monday so I'm a bit limited as to what I can fit in so I'll just go with the flow! 😉

I suppose if we are doing Dinorwic we could absail the power plant surge pool/shaft and pop out in the lake at the bottom? Just remember to pack your turbine proof wetsuit and a dry pair of socks for afterwards.

Also... I agree with RJV, I'd like to see some epic holes in the ground whilst in the area, so anything that doesn't remind me of 3ft high shale passages in a foot of water would be great.

A few years ago we were allowed to buy extra holidays at work, when we moved over to another company that amount went into our contacts.

Hence I always have plenty of holidays.

well - im also on holiday, but it will be with you guys for the weekend
I could rig a rope for a mine in beddgelert but only a few at a time as the boulders are very precairously placed and VERY loose - it can be a bit of a death wish type trip! but good fun  if your not standing anywhere near the shaft or drops!  :ohmygod:
Love it . . . 🙂

Not had a chance to give it a moment's thought I'm afraid. Other that it's happening

Will get onto sorting things for it from next week :)

Open to further suggestions / requests for trips. Anything anybody particularly wants to do.

I'd like to do something that's not often trodden. Not fussed what, but something a bit off the beaten track. Big is also good.
Searching for the ever elusive Underground Titty Bar.
