A day at Llanberis? Might appeal more to the "as well as" element of Aditnow. Museum, surface remains, spectacular views, good parking, variety of routes etc.
Just an idea!

How about a look at Cae Coch?
I can see if I can get a copy of the plan before then.

This seems to be rather overshadowed by the Big Bash in the Lakes, August 2-9.

Yes and no :)

The CRTT trip was particularly requested by several people and none of them are attending the Big Bash: this weekend was also the only one in about two months that everyone could attend, thus it seemed to me to be the only possibility.

We shall sort something out for the Saturday and the Monday shortly...

I was one of the original "yes I want to do that" in response to the CRTT outing.

Will confirm my attendance for the CRTT (and maybe the rest) but one quick question. How much SRT is involved in the CRTT as I have no gear and only a small amount of experience (engine shaft at Moel Ferna).

Fairly youngish and fitish so it's more a question of ability than fitness.

Thanks for your help

No gear ? Only one easy descent under your belt ?
I think maybe you should a bit more experience first. A minimum requirement for any trip involving SRT is a thorough knowledge of the equipment and techniques. You should be competent enough to pass deviations and rebelys and be able to confidently do changeovers.

Maybe you should buy some equipment and get some surface practice under your belt first. I would certainly point you on the direction of a caving or mining club before going any further.

Colonel

Thanks for that.

Mainly stuck to the walk in stuff with Miles up to this point on ME monthly meets etc.

Have helmet, lamp, boots etc etc but no SRT gear.

Easy descent - yes it was - it was the four hours it took ten of us to get out that wasn't quite so easy!

Many thanks

I can make the 4th, which means i will thankfully miss the CRTT! 😉

Are ideas for 2nd and 4th still being bashed around?

But good fun seeing the youngsters who were over eager to be first up getting absolutely soaked above.

Following a request from Colonel Mustard and presumably on behalf of Squadron Leader Wenders, Saturday has been put aside for the depths of Cwmorthin. I suspect this will involve a drill, some bolts and some abseiling, possibly also a boat or two ;)

There are a couple of people who have expressed an interest in the Croesor-Rhosydd trip via pm - I think we've mostly full up for this, but if anyone wants to suggest dates that are good for them, I'm sure SimonRL or I will be up for another amble.

What with staff holidays and boat shows, I may only be able to manage the first weekend in September, then the last weekend, after which the calendar is mercifully empty, er, unless I have a wedding to attend :flowers:

Could we not split up into a few groups? Space ourselves out a bit?

Good thinking that man!

I'll have a chat with you later on today and report back - I owe a couple of people PMs and I'll come back to them once we've had a chinwag 🙂

I will probably be free on the 3rd and don't mind leading people around who know what they're doing! I'm no good as an instructor though!

As I recall, pitch 1 was a free hang. How did it come to need re-joining (assuming abrasion was the cause) or have I got it wrong ?
