Ahaha! :)

The aim was to descend the chamber beyond... a trip report will no doubt surface someday ;)

All I will say is that if you were ambling around Ch.17 on DE, someone's been listening to your prayers - there have been some very recent roof falls and we watched a slab detaching itself over the course of the afternoon.

Presumably you used the rusty spike with a rubber sleeve as an anchor to abseil from? If so, you're madder that I thought... 😮

I have uploaded the Cwmorthin & Oakeley mine layout (2 diagrams). You'll find them under Cwmorthin Mine.

I have only made it available for registered members as it shows areas non experienced mine explorers do not want to be going. :ohmygod:

Please only use it for reference, do not rely on it being accurate or up-to-date.

It does not show the Cwmorthin Round Trip...!!!

Speedy.

Not massive - perhaps a couple of feet square?

It was still there when we left, but the gap between it and the roof probably opened up by an inch or two whilst we were there!

There was a patch of very clean roof around it, which suggests that there had been a big fall quite recently.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
