Technically yes, i.e. I'll process the application and payment for anybody who wishes to come along and needs insurance, so legally yes, they're covered. However cards will be a couple of weeks since the BCA administrator is away.

Quick update....

It was suggested by the GOES people that we do Penmorfa. This means getting a bit damp http://www.goes.org.uk/html/pen_morfa.html  , and then we can optionally split up for those who want to do a bit of rope work. So pack your SRT kit, and bank on getting wet 😉

Will post location meet up etc as soon as I've had confirmation from GOES.

For what its worth I did the Penmorfa trip a few years ago, It wasn’t very wet and the concrete pipe bit was a lot of fun. The GOES people are great and provide little trolleys to lie on. I found lying on my back and using my feet on the roof to propel myself along was best, and worked up quite a speed.
It’s probably my Black Country ancestry as this was the way that the barges went through the Dudley canal tunnels.

Meeting at 10AM this Sunday 15th June. Map below:

The entrance is a 600mm diameter, 170m long concrete pipe. Bring kneepads!

The maximum water depth will be 28 inches. No need for wetsuit unless you specifically want to.

Once inside the mine we will have the option of splitting up with those who want a route requiring some SRT taking one route and others taking a different route. So if you want to take the SRT route, bring your kit.

There will be four guides on hand that day so plenty of scope for options.

I look forward to the underground trip. Since the water will be over my wellies I think I might just as well wear my old working boots and throw them in the weely bin afterwards.

Greateful thanks to the Great Orme Exploration Society (GOES) for a great day on Sunday.

In attendance, ben88800, davel, hymac580c, merddinemrys, sparty_lea, stevem, timberman, simonrl and a number of GOES people.

The 170m concrete pipe crawl was as awful as it sounds, followed by nearly a km in water from knee to waist deep, but the workings beyond made it well worthwhile. GOES have certainly put in a fantastic effort into exploring, surveying and opening up sections of this mine and the description of being like a swiss cheese is spot on.

My camera succumbed to the wet and grit and refused to play for most of the day so I only managed four picture. Hopefully Ben and Sparty will be able to fill the blanks.

Somehow (and humble apologies to those who didn't) I managed to bag a trolley for the way out, and 160m of propelling yourself head first, face up, down the pipe on a trolley was so much fun :lol: :lol:. The reasoning for the trolley was that we were the last two, but unforunately we managed to leave Sparty and one GOES guide inside the mine. I've a horrible feeling one of us got his trolley as well 😞
