Hmmm, I probably need to shut the computer down and restart it or something? Anyway, no bothers as I prefer FireBadger ;)

no restart here and it works great in safari w00t.

Ok so now onto the next set of requests, tags.
I would like to be able to tag pictures and then browse by tag (see flckr). Especially with this new super browser.
For example. The tag lightpaint for images that have been painted, then be able see all light painted images.
I have no idea how hard this is but it would be very handy.
The other bit i would be interested in seeing is the photo settings from the exif data of the image if it is present.
This would help those of us who arent so good get a little bit better.

It does work very well on flickr.com, i would imagine simon will be pulling his hair out  Aditnow would be a totally different site with all those features

All lovely and good, exif data can be got, but there can be an awful lot of it! Tags, nice idea, but most photos that get uploaded don't get descriptions (and a lot go up via the bulk upload) so would people religiously add tags?

it is a good question and I am not sure ...
The reward for adding the tags is that the pictures can be found and used. That reward isnt there at the moment for descriptions. Tags are also quicker to add.
It would also be great if the tags could be added by other users.
It might be worth splitting this off to another thread to get some feedback.

as for exif data see what flikr does. That seems pretty sane to me. You get a few bits by default and then can expand for more.

Actually, as long as captions are good, the "Photograph Search" feature will find the relevant pics 😉

Sure, but also please don't loose sight of the fact that Flikr is a web site for sharing photographs, and this is a web site about exploring mines. Sure we can do all this cool stuff, and over time I'll add it, but at the same time I don't want to loose track of what this site is about or get it bogged down in a "my web site is whizzier than yours" campaign.

Sorry I do tend to get a bit carried away.
Though as I said in another thread the standard of photography on this site is fantastic. I tend to view aditnow as a great collection of pictures made more relevant because of the extra data about where they were taken that make the pictures more interesting. i.e. to me it is a photography site like flickr all be it more specialised.

Im as guilty as many others for not adding captions and discriptions, how about making it compulsory and politely asking people to to go through their own uploads and ammending where necessary? the photo search feature would then run more effectively

I genuinely think that if you insisted on a caption, people would be deterred from uploading :(

how about letting other submit cations / descriptions for existing photos ?
The author could get an email with a simple accept / decline ?

I know I hate writing captions and descriptions as I hate writing
