Whilst travelling around locally I have seen these 2 sites, and wondered whether anyone can tell me anything about them:
1/ On the A44 on the approach to Ponterwyd there is this blocked entrance to an adit.
https://goo.gl/maps/i5cNMu6Rbwii6GjPA It seems a strange place for a mine since it is straight onto the road, which has been there for a long time.
Could it have been for mine drainage?
Has it ever been explored?
2/ A bit further away, at Forge, Machynlleth, there is a "cutting" into the hillside, now choked with brambles, (unlike the photo)
https://goo.gl/maps/Pn8uBEvhRBBEWKrn9 Someone has suggested that there might be a mine adit at the back, and it does seem to tie up with old maps of the area, which do state there was a mine near here, although there appears to be nothing on the ground now.
