The technique you're looking for is called light painting. You set the shutter speed to a decent amount of time (how much depends on the size of the space and how strong your light source is)

I find the best way to learn is to have a play with the settings and go outside and take some pictures. Just go out at night and try taking photos of the street light up by lamps, it's exactly the same as taking photos in caves - except you don't have to light it up yourself.

Hi all. How can I take a picture in a cave and have it come out perfect? I don't want to use the flash.

With a LOT of practice!

This what you get with 15 seconds and f2.8 with LED lamp and exposure corrected later.

Or just use an IPhone that is less than 2 years old. Their ability to produce unfeasibly good pictures with poor lighting is bordering on the annoying. After years of lugging around tripods, fancy cameras and more lights than Blackpool, then spending ages on each shot, I now get better results using my iPhone X.

Lightpainting..........

Can be done in Caves, Mines and Quarries:o:o
Better to regret something you have done - than to regret something you have not done.

You have to give a little bit of credit to the camera in the phone too.

Tip, hold the camera of whatever sort out to the side at arms length if possible, will increase shadow depth.

Here you are

Old Ham, RFD, NAMHO 2018. Fuji XP 120 full auto, ISO 200, hand held. Illumination from Imolent DX 80 32K lumens held out at full reach to the left. Look at the shadow and light pattern. You could hold the camera in front of you and take helmet off and hold out to the side. Obviously the Scorp is good, thanks for the praise, but you would need higher ISO setting to get a decent aperture and shutter speed.

Sorry back again, I have hijacked the thread!

This is to demonstrate my solo photography technique which works for me.

Go fullscreen on it and you will see the sharpness and solidarity of it. Its a Sony DSC H400 bridge camera, read crypto DSLR. Manual settings, ISO 100, F6.4 for 5 seconds. Slate, especially Cambrian, seriously soaks up the light. Hence the black cats in dark cellars we often see.

It was set on a tripod and on self timer. Caplamp is Scorpion X16, note the blue power light, can be covered with tape for photos. The backlighting is the DX 80 set on about 14K, the fill in light behind me is the daylight coming in. I normally take the DX80 plus the X16 hand torch with a diffuser, this does about 9K, but not needed here.
