It does look the mutts nutts but as an owner of a dlux 3 that has 60 secs exposure rather than the 30 i dont see an option of a bulb release and if its the same lens which it looks like its not very dust friendly , i just had to hoover the thing to get the gritty zoom working again. I was in a damp atmosphere no where near a beach and thought it would be a liitle bit more robust.

Maybe i am asking too much from a compact
leica or any other.

Thoughts please ?

Plus point its all metal body that is built to last, a 2.8 28mm lens.
bad point, the price 1200 quid but if you only ever bought a camera every 10 years this may be the one.

Can't argue that an APS-C sensor in a compact body is very desirable. Leica say it is for "available light photography", hence the f2.8 I guess. And maybe why no bulb mode.

Perhaps it will bump the Nikons and Canons of the world into bringing out their equivalent models at a third of the price.

It is a pity that nobody makes a compact with the combination of features the old Nikon 8400 had. The mix of bulb / timed release (up to 10 mins), good optics, wide angle, lack of crazy zoom, manual mode and manual focus has never been repeated as far as I know.

I guess that's because almost nobody needs these features, and with entry level DLSRs costing less and less the market for high end compacts is vanishing.

That Leica looks good, but if I were in the market for one (I'm not!!) and intending to use it underground then at that price I'd want to know it's got absolutely bomb proof weather sealing on it!

my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
