Visited a Copper Mine in Daiglen Burn today and have a photo of the entrance at NS 9106 9836 (56.165457,-3.755794). The Aditnow "Daiglen Copper Mine" entry has the location on the Gannel Burn about the same distance up that tributary above the confluence with the Daiglen burn as the mine I saw today up the latter tributary. I don't know whether there is another mine at the Aditnow entry location, but it maybe that there is some confusion about the location?

The web site isn't currently allowing me to upload the photo, however.

I had a look for other mines in the area without success. There appear to be lots of possible grid references for varius mines with various names in the area when searching the internet, so if anyone as a 10m accuracy grid ref or lat/long for any of these others that would be great.

Cheers
Mark

I'm pretty sure that the location given on here is wrong, although I've not actually looked where it says.

Is the path still closed? There's another mine on the direct path, you see it quite high up on your right as you walk back to Tillicoultry. It's a bit of a scramble to get to and there's not much to it, slightly less than the one you were in although you can stand up at least, but it's interesting enough.

The path is open again. They are still working on it, but a major revamp. Didn't go back down the glen path, if that's what you mean by the direct one. Interested in a grid ref for the one you mention.

I didn't get a grid reference I'm afraid, but it's quite easy to spot if you keep looking up to the left as you head down the Glen path, less easy to spot on the way up IIRC. The friend who was with me has a better memory for locations than I do, I'll see if he can pinpoint it better when he comes online.

P.S. The legs you see in one of the Daiglen photos on here are mine.

Hi, I found another quite short mine at NS 9123 9780 and have added some photos to the Tillicoultry Copper Mne entry although that is showing as further up the valley. Is the adit you saw the same as the one I was at today or the one further up at NS912981?
Anyone found the latter?

I think that's the same one I was in, I'll have to go back to refresh my memory.

Hi. My information would suggest that area covered is at least from NS909 986 to NS913977. My refferences are, The mines of Scotland. A bibliography by Tom Oldham, still avalibly on the internet, and Memoirs of The Geological Survey of Scotland Vol XVII Lead, Zink, Copper and Nickel ores of Scotland 1921 pages 105 and144. I have not visited the site so thanks for the info. Jeremy

I have just checked, Voll XVII refers to this mine as 'Tillicoultry', this location seems to be a much better fit for you findings and is on this site as the above name. Jeremy

The one on the net is dated. I can supply the latest edition.
