Probably this one referred to in Aberdeen Journal - Tuesday 16 November 1943

On the north side of the village there is a limestone quarry. It has been excavated by the County Council for road metal, and the residue from the crushing plant has been a fairly high quality of lime which has been bought by one of the agricultural companies in Aberdeen.

The same newspaper article also has this

Quote:

"The Press and Journal" has been informed by Mr J. Grant, treasurer of the Tomintoul General Interest Committee, that the mineral workings referred to are the excavation of manganese ore, about four and a half miles from the village, on the Lecht road between Tomintoul and Cockbridge. These workings were operated about a hundred years ago by private company, which sent the ore by pack pony across the hills to Garmouth for shipment to the south.
