How long ago was that?
I assume it was Monktonhall No2 Shaft which is owned by the Coal Authority.
Going to the shaft would be tresspass.
Going down would be extremely dangerous and you would need permission.
I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks

why do you ask how long ago it was
of course it was No2 as it would be a bit hard to go down No1 as its filled in
getting in the shaft is no probs
do you work for the coal authority to be concerned about tresspassing
of course its dangerous thats why we do it are you trying to tell me on a site like this to explore a safe mine lol
and as we have seen inside we know whats down there do you?

hope you take breathing gear and gas sniffers down with you as abandoned coal shafts tend to get less and less oxygen as you go down them, send a saftey flame lamp down on rope first if the flame goes out your dead below that level.
if its a hole explore it...

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
