Hi all.
Im after info on the old mine at Tankersley. Im buying a cottage there and have had a coal mining report done but I was wondering if there were any maps that show the direction of the tunnels that were last worked in 1917.

There is some kind of capped entrance in the field behind the house and I was wondering if that was the entrance but the map on here suggests it was lower down the A61

Any info would be great.

A good place to look is the coal authority’s interactive map. It might not give you the information you need but there is a box you can tick to show mine workings and it will show you where any mine shafts are in the area.

Google coal authority interactive map. Follow the link. Find the area you want to look at. Select coal mining data and tick mine entries and probable workings/current workings. That should show you where the mine workings have been in that area.
